A common perception towards them is “nearly reachable, yet not quite” or “nearly conceivable, yet not quite”.

Aspiral Clock [link]

This super cool clock called Aspiral is handmade by inventors Will Aspinall and Neil Lambth in London.

How does it work? The spiral face you below turns slowly over twelve hours. The red ball rests on the spiral ledge; as the spiral turns it travels along the ledge to the middle. At the 12th hour it drops through the hole in the middle to begin its journey again at the bottom. There are lots of things can be customized, like the clock face color/pattern time markings…

Bubble Shaped Skyscraper is a Fresh Water Factory [link]

Design Crew for Architecture have created an incredible water purifying skyscraper that looks like dozens of soapy bubbles stacked one on top of another. Capable of making freshwater efficiently and sustainably using a series of bubbles filled with water-filtering mangroves, the unconventional building pushes the envelope of what a skyscraper is capable of doing.

Using tidal powered pumps, the brackish water ((water that has more salinity than fresh water, but not as much as seawater) will be brought up into the tower and circulate through the mangrove plants, which have the unique ability to thrive on brackish water and perspire freshwater. The freshwater sweat then evaporates and condensates into dew on wall of the greenhouse and is collected in a freshwater tank. The resulting freshwater can then be distributed to the fields using gravitational flow.

Korean studio nothing design group has designed ‘play ground play table’ which allows users to grow plants in it. made of wood, the table is divided into different sized square sections to accommodate various types of plants. users also can raise fish or use it for ordinary storage.

This a a pretty odd design…My question is: How to water those plant? since the table is made of wood..is watering will cause problem? damage the table itself?

It won’t enlighten us as to what happened at the beginning of time, it will shed some light on the subject at hand, and it’s a lot funnier. Like all things luminous it needs light to charge itself up, so to speak, and the amount of light it gets will determine how long it glows for.

Wind Up Socket has a timer to it, once you set the duration and time’s up, the electricity supply to that socket gets cut off. For grownups who don’t have many restrictions and can self regulate, this one may seem more cumbersome than anything else. But for moms with teens who don’t comprehend “half hour of TV / Videogames time”; this is booty!

The “Etirement” lamp – lamp with dimmer [link]

Based on an orgaic skin-and-bones body, the Etirement has both: a skin and a skeleton. Pulling the rod you see in the center there adjusts the light the lamp gives off. The intensity of the light lowers down and rises up according to the distortion of the fabric membrane.

The designer of this object, Rémi Bouhaniche, calls the temporary, changing shape of the Etirement “a poetic time from a daily action.” Very pretty!

This edible racing car was baked by Culinary Executive Chef from the Royal Plaza On Scotts in Singapore with his team consisting of six chefs, two artists, two technicians, two culinary staff members and five young volunteers from Metta Welfare Association.

According to Klik.tv, there are a thousand individual loaves and 22 different types of bread in the life-size F1 car. Let’s check the ingredients: 33 Lbs yeast, 4.7 gallons water, 2.2 Lbs salt, squid ink, soy beans etc; then bake 1,000 loaves and 22 varieties of bread. Assemble and coat with 3 gallons of food varnish.

Michael Arndt decided that buying a real Formula 1 car was too expensive, so he spent 6-years building a Mercedes-McLaren replica using 956,000 matchsticks. Look really impressive.

Based in UK, the Wilson brothers have created a formula 1 car using puma shoe boxes. It was part of an installation in the new store at north state street, Chicago and references the ongoing relationship puma has with motor sports.

Samurai Chess Set (Link)

One of the most unique chess boards you will ever see!

Hand-made from solid hardwoods, the board measures 42″ wide by 30″ across. There are 7″ by 27″ sand gardens on either side of the playing surface. The sand gardens contain rocks, a walking bridge, and three LIVE Bonsai trees. The pieces are hand-carved…the Samurai king stands about 7″ tall, the gate pawns about 3″ tall. Other pieces include the Japanese Princess for queen, the cane carrying elder advisor for bishops, Samurai Headdress for knights and Pagodas for the rooks. The board has the Kenji for the Samurai in the middle of the board.

It is said, this really is a chess set where one side is Catholic and the other side is Jewish. It is made completely of glass, and is part of the permanent exhibit at the Corning Museum of Glass.

This is a planter and a fishtank. You put your regularly potted plant in this pot on top, and a goldfish on the bottom. What could they provide for eachother, you might ask? Waste! Yes, the fishes turn their eaten bait remnants into nutrients for the plant, while the water fed to the plant is filtered as it passes though and becomes clean for the fish. It is a totally natural and lovely system.

Place your potted plant on the O2 and water as usual. Excess water is evaporated and the system accelerates the process of photosynthesis, not to mention keeps tabs on our green friends so you’ll always know when they need water.

Ok. This one is even werid than the umbrella above. Put my clean dish on the plant…I’m still concerned it will end up dirtying my dishes and make me wash it again.

MonPot – Thirsty Plants Demand Attention [link]

The thing with MonPot is that it’s a potholder with an inbuilt rotating timer and is inspired by the sorts you see on an oven. There are plants like cactus, buddleia, California poppy, red-hot poker and many herbs that don’t need watering every single day. So if you are the forgetful sorts use this alarm and do the job timely. Just rotate the base to a setting of your choice, like a day or a week and a reminder light will go off at the end of the duration.

The very sleek looking pot measures soil conditions, temperature, humidity, and water – calculates those variables based on the need of said plant, and expresses its condition via a series of pictograms on an LCD display.

It’s also smart enough to know if you’ve over watered and will systematically drain itself into a water vessel. All this high tech goodness does mean it needs power but a simple USB interface does double duty by charging and transmitting pertinent information to and from computer software.

Roly-Poly Pot – Plants Fall Over When Thirsty [link]
